UX Research to Reach a Gen Z Target Audience
Stadsmissionen Secondhand in Gothenburg struggled to attract Gen Z, so I conducted UX research, user interviews, and testing, working from concept to prototype. I found that Gen Z's interest in secondhand shopping and digital trends offers an opportunity for a digital solution. ThredUp's 2022 report shows online secondhand shopping grew 50% in five years, set to grow sixteen times faster by 2026. Interviews revealed users' frustration with repairing clothes, the need for an easy donation booking system, and a preference for renting clothes for events. My role was to create this digital solution, collaborating with the Unit Manager and Operations Developer at Stadsmissionen.
Idea
A Digital Platform for Secondhand Fashion with Rental Services
Through UX efforts, the idea began to take shape. The concept: "Make an impact with your style." This app simplifies the search for secondhand and rental clothing, fostering sustainable consumption. It integrates secondhand shopping, rental services, and mending services into one user-friendly platform.
Solution
Engaging Gen Z and Reducing Environmental Impact
The result became a visual prototype that integrates secondhand shopping, rental services, and mending services into a single platform. This approach promotes sustainable consumption by providing users with easy access to a variety of secondhand and rental clothing options. By engaging Gen Z, the solution not only meets their shopping preferences but also helps reduce environmental impact by encouraging the reuse and repair of clothing.
